The Most Dog Friendly Beach in Newquay

Great Western is dog friendly all year round

Accessed via a paved access slope (no steps)

Pedestrianised with no vehicular access – really safe for dogs

At low tide our beach is enormous and links up to the other beaches in the bay

At high tide we still have a nice amount of beach exposed for dogs to enjoy

The Great Western Surf Cafe is dog friendly and has some umbrellas for doggy shade

Meet some of our regulars:

Shep & Bear

Possibly the most iconic Great Western dogs there are… the mighty Shep & Bear. They come as a pair,  live for the beach, and adore coming into the cafe to say hi.

Pepper

The lovely Pepper is the fur baby of our wonderful Anna. Anna is our hostess with the mostess, who you’ll probably know if you visit us at the beach. Anna and Pepper are the cutest pair ever.

Bonnie

Bonnie is a gorgeous little pup, attached at the hip to Mark, one of the wonderful Wave Project volunteers who ran the latest Wave Project course at Great Western. Bonnie had her first beach walk, and first sea swim right here at Great Western, and also joined in on the surf lesson.

Foamie

One-in-a-million Foams is the baby girl of Rachel – a local gal, and founder of global female surf collective Women + Waves. We adore Foamie, she is super soppy, hilarious and just the biggest sweetheart.
