Get In Touch

If you’re bringing a group to Great Western Beach, or have any questions regarding events or any other beach related matter, please contact us through the form below.

The Great Western Surf Cafe does not take bookings, all tables are first come first serve and everyone is very welcome. Dogs are especially welcome here, and the beach is dog friendly all year round.

This photo below is of the entrance to the alleyway on Cliff Road. It’s easy to miss, but keep an eye out as this path is your route down to Great Western Beach. We hope it helps you find us.

Find Us On The Beach (TR72NE)

We are a beach complex, so we are located down on the sand, BELOW the main road. You can access the beach at any time via a smooth tarmacked lane. The lane entrance can be found on Cliff Road, hidden between the K2 Gym building and the Great Western Hotel.

Please note, there is no vehicular access to our beach.

For clarity, Great Western Surf Café is located on the beach itself. Please do not get confused with our lovely neighbours at the top of the path, the Great Western Hotel.

Whether you’re arriving by train or not, the Railway Station is a useful place to navigate from. It’s just a few minutes walk from the beach.

    • Exit the railway station on to the high street and turn right. Some of the signage points to beaches being to the left, but ignore that.
    • To get to Great Western Beach you want to walk away from Aldi with the sea on your left, approx 70 metres towards the Great Western Hotel.
    • Just before the Great Western Hotel there is a paved pathway to the left which is a pedestrianised walkway down to the beach.
    • The path is in between K2 Gym (big black building) and The Great Western Hotel (big cream building). It is a very normal looking pathway, no flashy signs & no tourist carpark. This is part of Great Western’s charm, it is a hidden gem, tucked away from the crowds and undiscovered by most people
    • Once you’ve walked down the alleyway and turned the corner, then the view opens up in front of you, and the beauty of this special place is revealed.
